Distributor Aceto (pronounced "a-seat-o") is getting bigger through chemicals -- namely generic drugs. The company sources and distributes roughly 1,000 chemicals through three segments. Its largest segment is health sciences, which sources and distributes bulk generic drugs, advanced pharmaceutical intermediates (APIs), and nutritionals. Aceto's other business units include chemicals and colorants (which distributes intermediates and chemicals for coatings, inks, and electronics) and crop protection (herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides). Aceto sources about two-thirds of its products from Asia, mostly China and India, and turns around to sell more than half of them in the US.
