Aastrom Biosciences brings new life to dying tissue. The development-stage company's proprietary tissue repair technology uses a patient's own cells (harvested from bone marrow) to manufacture treatments for a number of chronic diseases. The new cells, created through a sterile, automated process, are then used in tissue regeneration therapies for the donor patient. Aastrom Biosciences' ongoing development activities are primarily focused on applying the technology to cardiovascular applications including cardiomyopathy (weakening of the heart muscle) and critical limb ischemia (severe obstruction of the arteries).
