The drug development firm in 2007 opted to sacrifice its marketed schizophrenia drug, FazaClo, in order to advance lead candidate Zenvia in clinical trials. It sold FazaClo, which it had bought just the year before; it is using the proceeds to continue developing Zenvia as a treatment for pseudobulbar affect -- the involuntary crying or laughing experienced by some people with such neurological disorders as Lou Gehrig's disease and multiple sclerosis.
