Company Description

The French don't care how we Americans pronounce "nuclear," just that we use its energy. AREVA NP is AREVA's nuclear power and services business segment; it designs and builds nuclear reactors and components for nuclear power plants. It also supplies nuclear fuel, and its service portfolio includes engineering, maintenance, inspection, and repair services. AREVA NP, which operates around the world, has built more than 100 reactors in more than 10 countries. The company was formed to merge the nuclear activities of Framatome and Siemens prior to Framatome's acquisition by AREVA. Now a joint venture between AREVA and Siemens, Siemens announced in 2009 it's selling its 34% stake to AREVA.
