API Technologies is good at defense. Through various operating subsidiaries, the company designs and manufactures highly-engineered electronic components and robotics, as well as secure communications systems for military and aerospace applications. It develops products for missile, electronic warfare, flight control, and range finder systems, as well as devices that remotely manage critical IT and communications systems. With manufacturing facilities in North America and the UK, API maintains a direct sales and marketing team and primarily sells to defense prime contractors and contract manufacturers. Roughly half of its revenues are generated by US Department of Defense subcontractors.
