Company Description

Everybody's favorite spinoff is still serving America online. Formerly a subsidiary of Time Warner, AOL was spun off to shareholders at the tail end of 2009. The Web portal serves users with an array of content and communication tools, including sites for news (TheHuffingtonPost.com), maps (MapQuest), instant messaging (AIM), entertainment (Moviephone), and technology (Engadget and TechCrunch). AOL earns revenues through advertising (AOL Advertising) and subscription sales. It sells ads on third-party sites through its Third Party Network. Search services are provided through a deal with Google. AOL still offers dial-up Internet access services for a monthly fee to nearly 4 million subscribers in the US.
