ANN knows that basic black is as appreciated by its customers as its classic styles. The company is a national retailer of upscale women's clothing, shoes, and accessories designed exclusively for its Ann Taylor and LOFT stores. The Ann Taylor brand targets fashion-conscious career women through about 360 stores (about 90 are Factory outlet locations), while the LOFT brand offers "upper-moderate-priced" casual apparel through some 560 stores (60 of which are outlets). ANN also moves its merchandise via its fast-growing online business for both brands. In early 2011 the company changed its name from AnnTaylor Stores Corporation.
