A.G. Simpson is really into metal -- the kind that goes on your car, that is. Operating under the name AGS Automotive Systems, the auto parts company manufactures bumper assemblies, corner braces, crossmembers, pickup bed components, and brackets. The company also offers assembly and sequencing services from facilities that are situated close to customers' plants to make assembly more efficient. Customers include OEMs such as Chrysler and GM. After operating under bankruptcy court protection from creditors since October 2001, the company was purchased by J2 Management for $6 million in 2002. The provincial government of Ontario in 2007 made a $6 million investment in AGS and a related firm, Tiercon. To read the full description, subscribe now.
