Company Description
A passer-by might only see a field of beet greens waving in the breeze but AGRANA sees sugar. The Austrian company's central European sugar factories produce beet sugar, which is then sold to consumers and food manufacturers worldwide. It also operates starch factories which refine potato starch and cornstarch for the food, paper, textile, alternative energy, and chemical manufacturing industries. Through worldwide acquisitions beginning in 2003, AGRANA has added fruit processing to its mix and starting in 2007 fruit became (and remains) the company's largest revenue sector. Its fruit plants make fruit juice concentrates, frozen fruits, and other fruit preparations for use by food and beverage manufacturers.
