ACADIA Pharmaceuticals develops small molecule drugs for the treatment of central nervous system disorders. The biopharmaceutical company's most advanced compound, pimavanserin, is in clinical trials as a treatment for Parkinson's disease psychosis, which occurs in up to 40% of Parkinson's patients. Two other clinical-stage candidates are being developed in collaboration with Allergan to treat patients with chronic pain (AGN-XX/YY) and glaucoma (AC-262271). A preclinical candidate, AM-831, a compound that holds the potential for a new class of antipsychotic drugs, is being jointly developed with Japan's Meiji Seika Kaisha. All candidates are birthed from ACADIA's own R-SAT drug discovery platform.
