ABC Cable Networks Group wants to work a little magic on the television dial. The unit of Disney/ABC Television Group owns and operates a portfolio of cable television networks including entertainment channels ABC Family and SOAPnet (which will shut down in early 2012). It also owns Disney Channels Worldwide which operates kids' networks the Disney Channel and Disney XD; other kids' programming is distributed under the Jetix name. (Through ABC Family, ABC Cable Networks owns animation distributor Jetix Europe.) In addition, ABC Cable Networks holds a 42% stake in A&E Television. Disney/ABC Television Group oversees the television broadcasting, production, and distribution operations of media giant Walt Disney.
