The status of Statoil is that it is Norway's top integrated oil and gas company. Statoil operates in 40 countries, focusing its upstream activities in more than 10 of them, primarily on the Norwegian continental shelf, the North Sea, the Caspian Sea, Western Africa, North America, and South America. In 2010 Statoil reported proved reserves of 5.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent. It indirectly operates a network of more than 2,280 gas stations in Russia, Scandinavia, Poland, and the Baltic States. (77% of these stations are in Scandinavia). Statoil also operates natural gas pipelines, supplies electricity in Norway and Sweden and is engaged in green energy development (wind and biofuels).
