Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation Sales Preparation

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) executed an AT&T-style breakup, but unlike Ma Bell's gang, the family stuck together. One of the world's largest telecom companies, NTT owns a controlling stake in Japan's dominant cellular carrier, NTT DoCoMo (60 million subscribers), and it is a holding company for regional phone companies NTT East and NTT West, which enjoy de facto monopolies in their respective markets. NTT provides long-distance, international, and data networking services through subsidiary NTT Communications. The company also operates an ISP and provides IT services through majority-owned NTT DATA. NTT has foreign holdings in Europe, the Pacific Rim, and the US. The Japanese state owns 34% of the company.
