Vuzix Corporation Company Profile
Virtual reality is in the eye of the beholder. Or in Vuzix's case, the eyewear of the beholder. The company designs, manufactures, and sells video eyewear that simulates viewing a large-screen TV or computer monitor. Its products are used to view high-resolution video and digital information from mobile devices, such as cell phones, laptops, and media players. These wearable devices are marketed to consumers (gaming enthusiasts in particular), as well as defense and industrial markets, which account for about half of its revenues. Military products include personal head-mounted displays for night-vision applications. Founded in 1997, Vuzix went public in late 2009.
