UnitedHealthcare Services Company of the River Valley (formerly John Deere Health Care) provides health insurance products and related services to about 510,000 members in Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, and Virginia. Health plan members include John Deere employees, commercial employers, and Medicare and Medicaid recipients. In addition to its health plans, the company provides behavioral health, disease management, pharmacy management, and wellness services. John Deere Health Care was formed in 1985, a result of John Deere's success in controlling its health care costs. That success didn't last and Deere sold the company in 2006 to UnitedHealth Group prompting the company's name change.
