The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum offers collections of antiques and Americana, a 60-acre naturalistic garden, and an 87,000-volume library specializing in American culture. Into 2012, the museum showcases The John and Carolyn Grossman Collection of printed paper from the Victorian and Edwardian periods. It also promotes its Enchanted Woods fairy-tale garden, aimed at the young and young-at-heart, containing sites such as a faerie cottage and a troll bridge. The 979-acre estate is the former home of Henry Francis du Pont, a director of chemical maker DuPont from 1915 to 1958. The Winterthur country estate was converted into a museum and opened to the public in 1951.
