Pantone LLC Company Profile
Pantone doesn't see the world in black and white. Founded in 1963, Pantone developed the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a book of standardized colors. The PMS has become the standard in selecting and communicating color in industries, such as graphic design and arts, advertising, printing, publishing, textiles, and plastics. Today, Pantone maintains the color system and adapts it for use in various new media, provides color management software, and produces a colorful collection of retail products that showcase the company's color expertise. Color-measurement and -management leader X-Rite acquired Pantone for about $180 million in cash in October 2007.
