The Alabama Legislature is composed of the House, with more than 100 elected members, and the 35-member Senate. The Alabama Legislature is served by four offices. The Legislative Reference Service provides services in bill drafting and legal research. The Legislative Fiscal Office is tasked with compiling information about expenditures and revenue. Examiners of Public Accounts performs audits of all agencies that receive state funds. The Alabama Law Institute, whose mission is to clarify and simplify the laws of the state, is staffed by volunteers.
