Drexel doesn't want to train its dragons, but to educate them in a wide range of disciplines. Drexel University (home of the Drexel Dragons) is a private, coeducational institution of higher learning with an enrollment of more than 24,200 undergraduate and graduate students and a student-teacher ratio of about 9:1. It operates more than a dozen schools and colleges in the US; the Drexel University College of Medicine is the one of the country's largest private medical schools. Drexel runs a mandatory co-operative education program that helps students gain real-world experience while supplying local employers with trained workers. Philadelphia financier and philanthropist Anthony Drexel founded the university in 1891.
