The Alabama Department of Public Safety may be known mainly for its Highway Patrol, which includes 65% of the agency's arresting officers, but it also provides other services. The department's Bureau of Investigation focuses on major crimes throughout the state while the Administrative Division provides chaplains to accompany officers, especially for death notices. Besides administering exams of drivers, the Driver License Division also annually makes a couple of thousands arrests of applicants with warrants or fraudulent documents. The Protective Services Division is responsible for guarding state facilities.
