Fractionating natural gas liquids (NGLs) is only a fraction of what Williams Partners does. The company is also engaged in the gathering and processing of natural gas and the storage of NGLs, and the operation of three major interstate natural gas pipelines. (These pipelines deliver 14% of the natural gas consumed in the US.) Williams Partners assets include a 3,800-mile natural gas gathering system in the San Juan Basin; 60% of Discovery Producer Services and Carbonate Trend (gas gathering systems); and the 9,800-mile Transco intestate natural gas pipeline. The Williams Companies has merged its Williams Pipeline Partners (pipelines) unit into Williams Partners (which had focused on midstream operations).
