Wal-Mart de México y Centroamérica is the numero uno retailer in Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua with some 2,460 stores and restaurants. These include Bodega food and general merchandise stores and Superama supermarkets, Suburbia apparel shops, and some 365 Vips eateries. It also runs Wal-Mart Supercenters, SAM'S CLUB and ClubCo warehouse stores and Banco Wal-Mart. Its stores are located in 435 cities throughout the region. Wal-Mart Stores formed a joint venture with Mexico's Cifra in 1991and in 2000 acquired it and renamed the business Wal-Mart de México. Wal-Mex then added Wal-Mart's operations in Central America and the business became Wal-Mart de México y Centroamérica.
