Tohan is one of Japan's top two book wholesalers (Nippon Shuppan Hanbai is the other). Established in 1947, the company markets and distributes books, reference materials, comics, and magazines to more than 20,000 bookstores. It also handles CDs, DVDs, calendars, notebooks, and other related goods. Tohan operates more than 20 offices throughout Japan, in addition to its headquarters in Tokyo. It also has a joint venture with China Publishing Group and China National Publication Import and Export to sell books and magazines about China, as well as Chinese CDs and DVDs in Japan. Tohan is affiliated with Kogyo, a Japanese book and magazine publisher, and Book Liner Co., which offers logistics services.
