Supermarket operator The Golub Corporation offers tasty come-ons such as table-ready meals, gift certificates, automatic discount cards, and a hotline where cooks answer food-related queries. Golub operates about 130 Price Chopper supermarkets in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, upstate New York, northeastern Pennsylvania, and Vermont. (Nearly two-thirds of the stores are in New York.) About 70 of the locations have in-store pharmacies. It also runs Mini Chopper service stations and convenience stores. Brothers Bill and Ben Golub founded the company in 1932. Today, the Golub family runs the company and owns 45% of the regional grocery chain; employees own slightly more than 50%.
