Terna turns the key to Italy's high-voltage power grid. The company, also referred to as Terna Rete Elettrica Nazionale, owns more than 98% of the power grid, including about 63,500 kilometers of electric transmission lines that cover the country. It also manages 475 transforming and switching stations in Italy, as well as other interconnection lines with neighboring countries. Other operations include plant engineering, power plant and line operation and management, and grid automation. Terna is also included in the ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operates, a group of 41 operators from 34 EU countries.
