Petkim Petrokimya kicks it old school with Turkey's chemistry set. Specializing in petrochemical manufacturing, the company produces ethylene, polyethelene, PVC, polypropylene, and other chemical building blocks for use in the manufacuture of plastics, textiles, and other consumer and industrial products. The company supplies a significant portion of the petrochemicals used in Turkey; it also globally. The government of Turkey had owned just more than 50% of the company but, in 2008, sold its stake to a group comprising Turkish energy company Turcas, Azerbaijani state oil company Socar, and the Saudi Injaz. Socar raised its stake in Petkim to 51% the next year.
