The company holds the New England transmission assets of parent National Grid USA (which is a subsidiary of the UK-based National Grid plc). The utility company provides services to National Grid affiliates Granite State Electric, Massachusetts Electric, Nantucket Electric, and Narragansett Electric, as well as to other regional energy companies. It maintains and operates a 9,000-mile transmission system serving five states New England Power also holds interests in inactive nuclear power plants.
