A company so nice they named it twice is doubling its efforts to deliver power. NRG Energy, a leading power producer with a generating capacity of about 25,540 MW (including 1,405 MW of renewable energy assets), is getting more greener as it invests in wind and solar power. The vast majority of NRG's power plants are in North America, but it also has one in Australia and one in Germany. Its portfolio includes more than 190 generation units at 45 power plants. It also markets natural gas, oil, and other commodities, NRG's retail units (Reliant Energy and Green Mountain Energy) distribute power to 1.9 million customers in Texas. In 2012 the company bought rival GenOn Energy in a $1.7 billion stock deal.
