Like a great big Chevy, NOVA Chemicals Corporation muscles into a long line of plastic and chemical products. Its Olefins/Polyolefins unit manufactures ethylene -- the most widely produced petrochemical -- and polyethylene -- the most widely used plastics material for consumer and industrial markets. Uses include packaging, toys, bottles, and building products. Its Performance Styrenics unit makes expandable polystyrene (EPS) and ARCEL resins, used in packaging and insulation. NOVA Chemicals manufactures its products at seven sites in North America. It also owns a minority stake in LyondellBasell Industries. Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Co. (IPIC) acquired Canada-based NOVA Chemicals in 2009.
