Murphy's Law? Turn that oil into money. Murphy Oil explores for and produces oil and gas -- primarily in the US, but also in Canada, Malaysia, and the UK, and has major refining and marketing assets. In 2012 the company reported proved reserves of 295.7 million barrels of oil, 119.1 million barrels of synthetic crude oil, and 1.1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. It sells refined products through more than 1,100 Murphy Oil USA gas stations. Most of these US retail stations are located in the parking lots of Wal-Mart stores, although the company also operates stand-alone Murphy Express stations. It markets petroleum products through distribution systems under the Murphy USA and SPUR brands in the US.
