Operating through two major subsidiaries, Momentive Performance Materials Inc. and Momentive Specialty Chemicals, the holding company has become a global leader in developing high-performance resins, silicones, and other advanced materials. It makes resins and other specialty chemicals, including epoxy, phenolic, and coating resins; silicones and quartz derivatives; and forest products resins like formaldehyde. It is also one of the world's largest producers of silicones. Momentive serves several markets, including automotive, construction, consumer goods, electronics, and oilfield exploration and production. Formed in 2010, Momentive withdrew its IPO 2012.
