This company is far from being a pint-sized player in the UK pub industry. Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) is one of that country's largest restaurant and pub operators with about 1,600 establishments. Its vast portfolio includes such popular branded and managed chains as Harvester, Miller & Carter, Nicholson's, and O'Neill's. M&B also owns and operates a bevy of local community pubs throughout the country. The company has divested the majority of its lodging properties, shifting focus to its core business of pubs. Mitchells & Butlers was formerly the retail division of pub and hotel operator Six Continents.
