Microsemi SoC Division Company Profile

Microsemi SoC Division (formerly Actel) acts to design and sell programmable chips. The company makes field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), a type of integrated circuit that can be programmed by users for specific functions. It sells FPGAs to equipment manufacturers in the telecom, military, computer, consumer electronics, and automotive industries. It makes high-speed, anti-fuse FPGAs, as well as flash-based FPGAs, and offers design software and programming hardware used to configure and test its chips. Customers have included Boeing, Cisco Systems, and Siemens. In 2010 Microsemi acquired Actel, which became Microsemi's SoC division, in a deal valued at about $430 million.
