Mantra Films has found success by taping the exploits of a few wild coeds. The company produces the lucrative and controversial direct-to-consumer video and DVD series Girls Gone Wild. Infomercials for the series run on cable and local broadcast stations around the country. Mantra's operations include production facilities and crew members, a call center, and a fulfillment center, as well as tour buses and a live event staff. CEO Joe Francis founded Mantra in 1997 when he was 24 years old. Francis spent 10 months in federal prison awaiting trial in 2007 and 2008; the following year he ended his tax evasion battle with federal prosecutors when he pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns.
