MF Global gave its clients access to the world's marketplaces Monday through Friday (and weekends, too). The brokerage provided trade execution, clearing, and settlement services for cash, equity derivatives, commodities, and fixed-income products on more than 70 global exchanges. The firm was also among a small group of dealers authorized to trade US government securities. Other services included equity research, financing, and securities lending. MF Global served institutional and individual investors, corporations, professional traders, hedge funds, and asset managers. Beset with large losses and credit downgrades, MF Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and began liquidating in 2011.
