Its ships about 20% of all liquid petroleum products produced in Alberta to markets in Western Canada and in the Northwestern US. The pipeline company, founded in 1951 as Trans Mountain, was a subsidiary of Terasen Inc. until its parent company was acquired by Kinder Morgan, Inc. in 2005.
