J.P. Morgan Securities is the US investment banking arm of financial giant JPMorgan Chase. The company provides debt and equity underwriting, M&A and corporate restructuring advisory, securities dealing and brokerage, and trade execution services for large-market companies and institutional investors. Subsidiary J.P. Morgan Clearing provides clearing and settlement services. The company also provides economic and equity research services. In 2008 JPMorgan Chase acquired stricken Bear Stearns, historically one of the world's leading investment banks but one of the early victims of the global financial crisis. Its operations were merged with J.P. Morgan Securities, the bank's largest nonbanking subsidiary.
