Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) is king of the loan for small and midsized enterprises. The bank leads South Korea in small business loans, which represents some 80% of its lending portfolio. Other offerings include deposit accounts, credit cards, and trust account management services. IBK operates more than 550 ranches throughout the nation and about 10 branches in Asia and the US. The state-controlled company -- the government holds a 51% stake in the bank -- will be privatized; the privatization plan calls for IBK to continue its focus on small business lending. IBK was established in 1961.
