The Home Development Mutual Fund (more commonly known as the Pag-IBIG Fund) is one of the premier financial institutions in the Philippines. It caters to mostly middle-income workers, but also loans to residential developers. As one of the largest financiers of housing loans in the country, the state-run company issues housing bonds (used to finance its housing loan program), offers multi-purpose loans (for medical, educational, and minor home improvement assistance), and provides disaster relief financial assistance. The Home Development Mutual Fund was established by the government in 1978.
