HMV Group plc Company Profile

HMV Group hopes the route to our pocketbooks is through our eyes and ears. The entertainment retailer sells music, movies, and electronic games online and through some 275 HMV stores throughout the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, and Singapore. HMV has been closing stores and selling assets amid a prolonged sales slump caused by upheaval in the music business. To compensate for declining retail sales, HMV entered the live music and ticketing market through the purchase of its former joint venture partner in live music MAMA Group. The new business, called HMV Live (4% of sales), operates about 20 live entertainment venues and festivals. HMV Group sold its Waterstone'sbookstore chain to A&NN Group in mid-2011.
