A latter-day Spanish conquistador, Gas Natural is venturing into markets in both the Old World and the New. Gas Natural operates a group of energy companies that supply natural gas and electricity, serving 20.2 million customers primarily in Spain, but also in France, Italy, and Latin America. The largest natural gas supplier in Spain, Gas Natural is also a leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier. The company  has a generating capacity of 17,800 MW (including 4,400 MW in Latin America). In 2009 Gas Natural greatly expanded its power business, acquiring Spanish utility Unión Fenosa in a $26 billion deal, and in 2010 adopted Gas Natural Fenosa as its new corporate brand name.
