First Quantum Minerals knows the dynamics of mining in Africa's Copper Belt. The company owns all or part of several active copper mining operations in Africa, where it produces copper cathode, copper in concentrate, gold, nickel, and sulfuric acid. Most of First Quantum's revenues come from its 80%-owned Kansanshi copper-gold mine in Zambia and the Guelb Moghrein copper-gold mine in Mauritania. The Kansanshi mine is the largest copper mine in Africa. In 2010 the company produced around 323,000 metric tons of copper and 191,395 ounces of gold. First Quantum is also developing nickel projects in Finland and Australia and other copper projects in Peru and Zambia.
