FieldTurf Tarkett Company Profile

FieldTurf Tarkett does battle in the "turf wars." The sports surfacing company makes and installs FieldTurf, an infill-based artificial turf made of ground rubber (including shoe manufacturing byproducts), synthetic fibers of polyethylene and polypropylene, and sand. FieldTurf can be found on football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and rugby fields in more than 45 countries. President Jean Prevost, a former tennis pro, founded the company (originally named SynTenni Co.) after buying an early patent of the FieldTurf product in 1988. Flooring manufacturer Tarkett took control of FieldTurf in 2005. FieldTurf is now a segment of Tarkett's Sports Division, created in 2009.
