Espírito Santo Financial Group (ESFG) wields its earthly powers via two main entities: Banco Espírito Santo (BES) and Companhia de Seguros Tranquilidade, one of Portugal's top insurance firms. BES is the largest commercial bank in Portugal, where it has a 20% market share. Its Banco Espírito Santo de Investimento offers investment banking; Espírito Santo Activos Financeiros is a fund management firm. Although most of its operations are in Portugal, ESFG has financial services and insurance interests across Europe, Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the US, where it owns Espírito Santo Bank in Florida. Entities associated with the founding Espírito Santo family are ESFG's major shareholders.
