Canadian shoppers turn to Dollarama for their bargain buys. The company is Canada's largest operator of dollar stores with more than 600 locations in all 10 provinces. The Dollarama stores are corporate owned, not franchised, and offer an array of general merchandise, consumables (household, health and beauty, and snack products), and seasonal items for $2 or less. Dollarama purchases directly from more than 900 low-cost suppliers. Originally founded as a general store by Salim Rossy, Dollarama was established in 1992 by grandson and CEO Larry Rossy who transitioned the family business to a dollar store chain. After more than a decade of store expansion and increasing profitability, Dollarama went public in 2009.
