Compañía Anónima Nacional Teléfonos de Venezuela (CANTV) is Venezuela's government-controlled provider of local, domestic, and international telephone service since 1930. The company has about 7 million fixed access lines in service while its Movilnet subsidiary provides wireless communications services to about 16 million subscribers. It also provides broadband service to about 1 million Internet users. The Venezuelan government owns about 90% of CANTV primarily through the agency known as the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Intermediary Industries.
