CaixaBank operates one of the largest network of bank branches in Spain, with more than 6,600 locations; it also has a growing international presence in Asia and other regions through strategic alliances. In addition, the bank offers insurance products through partnerships, and it holds investments in major firms such as Telefónica and Repsol. CaixaBank was created in 2011 when it traded its industrial holdings (including Gas Natural Fenosa) for the banking business of Spain's largest savings bank, Caixa D'Estalvis | Pensions de Barcelona (La Caixa). La Caixa controls more than 80% of CaixaBank, which in 2012 merged with Banca Cívica to create one of Spain's largest banks.
