How do you say "shhh" in Japanese? CHI Group operates book stores and libraries in Japan. The holding company formed in 2010 by major shareholder Dai Nippon to take over two of its subsidiaries, Maruzen Company and TRC Library Service. Maruzen has a chain of about 150 retail book and college book stores in Japan, and TRC Library Service provides books and contract services, such as operational support and database management, to municipal and academic libraries. Dai Nippon combined the two companies to strengthen its education and publishing distribution businesses, and CHI Group plans to introduce more e-books to the academic and consumer market to offset dwindling sales for traditional publications.
