BRITISH MIDLAND AIRWAYS LIMITED Company Profile
British Midland Airways, which does business as bmi, is being integrated into the operations of British Airways, after being acquired by International Airlines Group (IAG), a company formed by the merger of British Airways and Spain's leading air carrier, Iberia. At its height, bmi had flown to more than 40 destinations, mainly in the UK, but also in about 30 countries in continental Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, with a fleet of about 60 jets, including Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer models. In 2009 Lufthansa acquired bmi, but the German airline then sold bmi to IAG in 2012 for more than £172 million (more than $268.4 million).
