Atria Senior Living Group kept the elderly close to its heart. The company operated retirement and assisted-living centers for the elderly who needed assistance with routine daily tasks, but who didn't need comprehensive skilled nursing. Its services ranged from independent living units in private apartment settings to more specialized care facilities for residents suffering from Alzheimer's disease or who required respite care. Atria Senior Living Group owned roughly 120 senior living communities in upscale areas in more than 25 states throughout the country. It was owned by investment firm Lazard. The company's real estate assets (including all of its senior living facilities) were acquired by health care investment trust Ventas in 2011.
